Thirty years of New York hair
Stephen Knoll opened his salon in 1991, blocks from Central Park, and has been at the genesis of styling and fashion trends ever since. A celebrity clientele and discerning New Yorkers have shared the same chairs here for three decades.
There is no pre-conceived look and no house cut. A team of specialists reads your hair, your routine and the way you actually live, then builds the shape around it. The products you find on this site were created for exactly this reason: to let clients keep the result between visits.

One of the few stylists working as both a salon and session stylist, Stephen still takes clients at 19 East 62nd between editorial and campaign work. Clients travel in from around the world for his cut and his read on what their hair should do next.
